I am actually a fan of both BJ Penn and GSP...but I was kind of hoping BJ would win. Instead, what I saw was GSP relentlessly attacking BJ, who kept up his defense for a while until he fell apart. To be honest, it was quite disappointing. I was hoping for a more evenly matched fight.
I was also interested in the Kim Dong Hyun vs Parisyan fight, since I do have a Korean background and can't help but be drawn to Kim's rise in the MMA field as one of the few outstanding asians. This time, he was on the receiving end of a questionable decision, which was obvious from how many boos Parisyan got when his win was announced. I honestly think Kim should have won the decision as well, but then again I am not a judge, and do not know the exact criteria they are looking for. I am not criticizing the judge's judgement, only the current grading system. From the gist of what I've heard, it is surprisingly inadequate and needs drastic reform. But hey, whatever. Kim should have dominated if he really wanted to win that fight. Right?
